Programme overview

A college-level awareness programme led by Chief Medical Officer Dr. R. K. Tiwari, ending with a student pledge against smoking.

Detailed description

At Pandit Deendayal Inter College, Chief Medical Officer Dr. R. K. Tiwari told students that smoking can lead to “death in instalments.” He asked them to pledge against tobacco and to carry the message to family and neighbours. He described links between tobacco and cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, respiratory illness, and impaired vision, and the financial burden of treatment on families. Special Guest Shri Mahesh Chaurasia warned that a smoker harms not only himself but those who breathe his smoke. The programme also described how the body begins to recover after quitting. Principal Shri Ram Indra Chakravarti, Additional Chief Medical Officer Radheshyam Rawat, and other members were present. The Chief Guest administered a pledge to the students.
